Refurbishment of our offices

29.06.2020

Both locations will be certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)

A comprehensive renovation and refurbishment programme is currently underway at our head offices in Hamburg and Münster.

DZ HYP will improve the environmental performance of the buildings with a complete modernisation, installing new air conditioning, ventilation and electric systems that will help to significantly decrease energy consumption. Another focus rests on workplaces. The renovation and refurbishment measures will result in state-of-the-art office floors that are flexible in use, from open spaces to private offices. Common areas such as reception areas, classrooms, canteens as well as parking places for cars and bicycles, will be fitted with modern and needs-oriented equipment.

Hamburg

The works at our Hamburg head offices are scheduled for completion this year. The roof will combine green elements, but also host 251 photovoltaic modules which will produce power exclusively for DZ HYP’s own consumption. New windows and boilers have already helped to improve energy consumption compared to previous years, even though large parts of the building were without insulation in the winter. The refurbishment measures will likely also result in a further reduction of water consumption.

Münster

Also at Münster we expect a marked increase in energy efficiency, even though specific data may only be collected upon completion of the measures and after a certain time has passed. Energy savings will be unlocked through the new building façade, a new electrical infrastructure as well as a new ventilation system. Further contributions to power saving will stem from switching interior and exterior lighting to LED lamps. Important organisational measures include merging public areas on the ground floor (such as kitchen, canteen, meeting and conference rooms), disabled accesses as well as a new access for cyclists, including bicycle stands and changing rooms.

Construction works are scheduled to be completed in Hamburg during autumn 2020, and in Münster in 2021. Following completion, the buildings are expected to be certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The Hamburg head offices have been pre-certified already, and we are now targeting a “Silver” DGNB certificate there. As for Münster, a pre-assessment showed that a “Gold” DGNB certificate is a possibility We thus continue to work towards the targets established in our Group-wide climate strategy.
